Budget 2025: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the country's general budget today i.e. on Saturday at 11 am. Although every year's general budget is very important from the country's economic point of view. 

Because the budget determines the direction of the government's policies for the next financial year. But Budget 2025-26 will be even more special, because with this Nirmala Sitharaman will join the few finance ministers who have presented the Union Budget eight times.

Till now only three finance ministers in India - Morarji Desai, P. Chidambaram and Pranab Mukherjee have had the opportunity to present the budget eight or more times. Nirmala Sitharaman will create history by joining this list.

The most important budget of the third term of Modi government

However, this year's Union Budget may be challenging for Nirmala Sitharaman. This year's budget is being presented at a time when the country's economy is facing challenges on many fronts.

The country's growth rate is slowing down and is estimated to be 6.4% for this financial year, while it is likely to be less than 7% in FY26. Retail inflation is persistent and is estimated to average 4.8% in FY25. 

Growth in the manufacturing sector is still sluggish. Apart from this, employment generation, skill development (skilling and upskilling) of workers and supporting micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are also among the major challenges.

The middle class struggling with inflation and stagnant salary growth is expecting relief from this budget. At the same time, there is a hope of more focus than ever on sustainability and self-reliance in terms of resources. Let us know what are the expectations of which sector from this budget?

Middle Class: After Prime Minister Narendra Modi's invocation to the Goddess of Wealth for the upliftment of the poor and middle class, the hopes of getting relief in income tax have increased. Especially the lower middle class may get some relief in the budget.

Focus expected on recycling ecosystem: India is the third largest e-waste producing country in the world. More than 32 lakh tonnes of e-waste is generated here every year. In view of the need of the hour, this budget is expected to focus more than ever on sustainability and self-sufficiency in terms of resources. 

Focus on industrial and service sectors: The Economic Survey 2024-25 on Friday said that states should focus on business reforms on a priority basis to achieve growth in the industrial or service sectors.

The Economic Survey said that Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu have a share of nearly 43 percent in the country's total industrial Gross State Value Added (GSVA). Whereas, the share of the six northeastern states, excluding Sikkim and Assam, in the total GVA is 0.7 percent.

Emphasis will be on investment in infrastructure: India needs to continuously increase investment in the infrastructure sector in the next two decades to maintain a high pace of growth.
